Bob Dylan’s celebrated 1976 Rolling Thunder Revue tour will be documented in a new 39-CD box set, The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings, released on November 6 by Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings, a Sony Music label.
The tour began on April 18, 1976, in Lakeland, Florida, and ended on May 25 in Salt Lake City. The collection includes 371 previously unreleased tracks, representing almost all of the tour’s 27 dates.
The release also includes the complete May 23, 1976, concert in Fort Collins, remixed from the original multitrack tapes. That performance led to the Hard Rain television special, which was broadcast live only once. A separate three-LP set, also due November 6, will feature the complete May 16 concert at Fort Worth, newly remixed from the original multitrack recordings.
During the second part of the tour, Dylan reunited with longtime collaborator Joan Baez, performing duets at several concerts, including Blowin’ in the Wind and Railroad Boy. The touring band featured bassist Rob Stoner, violinist Scarlet Rivera, drummer Howie Wyeth and guitarists Mick Ronson, Steven Soles, David Mansfield and T Bone Burnett.
Sony Music will also issue a new series of Bob Dylan catalogue re-releases, including Self Portrait, Empire Burlesque, Knocked Out Loaded, the live album Bob Dylan At Budokan, the collection Dylan and Greatest Hits Vol. 3.
