Britney Spears said she would “find a new family” in an Instagram post published Monday, Nov. 2, while making allegations about her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, and ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
The post included an image of Dakota Fanning making an obscene gesture in the 2003 film Uptown Girls. Spears alleged that Jamie Lynn did not allow her to hold her daughter, Ivey, during visits to Louisiana amid the COVID-19 period. She also claimed Federline prevented her from using the bathroom when she visited his home to pick up their sons.
“Jamie Lynn never let me hold Ivy [sic] one time when I would visit in Louisiana during covid in two week trips and Kevin wouldn’t let me use the bathroom when I would pick my children up in their house !!!,” Spears wrote. She added that the experiences made her “feel like a slave” and alleged that both had kept things from her.
Spears concluded the post by writing: “I will find a new family !!!”
The post follows several developments in Spears’ career and personal life. In February, she sold the rights to her complete music catalog to Primary Wave for an undisclosed amount. She was later charged with driving under the influence and ordered to complete 12 months of summary probation, including a three-month DUI course, weekly meetings with her psychologist and twice-monthly visits with her psychiatrist.
In October, Spears released “She’ll Never Be Me,” a song she wrote with Justin Timberlake that had originally been intended for her album Britney. Her most recent album, Glory, was released in 2016. Spears’ 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021.
