Bruce Springsteen has endorsed Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate race, saying the candidate stands up for the Constitution and democracy and opposes what he described as corrupt and lawless leadership in the White House. “That’s why I’m in his corner 100%,” Springsteen wrote in a social media post on Monday, the day before the 2026 midterm elections.
El-Sayed, an epidemiologist and local public health official, is running against former Republican congressman Mike Rogers. The race has also drawn attention after Democratic Representative Haley Stevens endorsed Rogers on Sunday, despite previously criticizing him as a “rubber stamp” for the Trump administration.
El-Sayed’s campaign brushed off Stevens’ endorsement. Speaking to reporters, he pointed instead to families’ concerns about schools, affording food and paying medical bills.
Springsteen has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump. Earlier this year, he released the protest song “Streets of Minneapolis” in response to an immigration crackdown in the city and the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. His Land of Hope and Dreams Tour began in Minneapolis on March 31.
