Christina Applegate says doctors are reassessing the cause of her symptoms after she was told that her multiple sclerosis diagnosis was incorrect. The actress shared the update on the latest episode of MeSsy, the podcast she co-hosts with Jamie Lynn Sigler.
Speaking with guest Jack Osbourne, who has MS, Applegate said she was starting over with medical testing. Doctors are checking for conditions that can resemble multiple sclerosis, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Lyme disease, she said.
Applegate joked about no longer having the diagnosis, but stressed that it would not change her ties to the MS community. She said she had made lifelong friends through it and would continue to support and represent people affected by the condition.
Last month, Applegate said the news had left her in shock. She has continued to experience symptoms, she explained, but doctors no longer have an explanation for them. She also described the uncertainty as confusing after previously having a diagnosis that helped her make sense of difficult days.
A week later, she reaffirmed that she would continue speaking up for people with multiple sclerosis and still considers herself part of the community.
