Dacia Maraini will receive the 2026 Tonino Guerra Prize at a two-day event in Rimini on November 6 and 7. The award ceremony is scheduled for November 7 at the Cinema Fulgor, with the program focusing on the Italian writer’s work and her connection to cinema.

The first event is a November 6 screening of Carlo Di Palma’s 1973 film Teresa la ladra, starring Monica Vitti and adapted from Maraini’s novel Memorie di una ladra. The screening will take place at 9:30 p.m. in the Fulgor’s Sala Giulietta, introduced and curated by Laura Delli Colli and Raffaele Milani.

At 5 p.m. on November 7, the Fulgor’s Sala Federico will screen Dacia Vita mia - dialoghi Giapponesi, a documentary by Izumi Chiaraluce. The director will attend. Co-produced and distributed by Luce Cinecittà, the film follows the history of the Maraini family and a fragment of collective memory.

The prize is chaired by Laura Delli Colli and was established by Andrea Guerra and the board of the Tonino Guerra Museum and Study Centre. Andrea Guerra said Maraini’s voice offers a valuable contribution to discussions about the poet’s human and poetic legacy. Previous recipients include Luis Sepúlveda, Carmen Yáñez, and directors Marco Tullio Giordana, Werner Herzog and Aleksandr Sokurov.

The November events will continue with meetings in Santarcangelo and Pennabilli, places associated with Tonino Guerra. The prize also precedes the seventh Luoghi dell’Anima Festival, scheduled to take place in Rimini from December 9 to 13, 2026, with artistic direction by Steve Della Casa and Paola Poli.
