David Byrne has released a new playlist focused on Argentina’s emerging generation of musicians. Titled David Byrne Radio Presents: Argentina, La Nueva Generación, the 95-minute selection includes tracks by Milo J, Cazzu, Broke Carrey, Feli Colina, Los Alonsitos, Trueno, Duratierra, and Soledad, among others.

The playlist is the latest edition of Byrne’s David Byrne Radio series. It follows a September installment dedicated to Mexican artists.

In an accompanying statement, Byrne described a movement among younger Argentine musicians who are bringing traditional instruments and rhythms into contemporary styles. He emphasized that the artists featured are not limited to folk music, but include rappers, punk musicians, and electronic artists.

Byrne compared the development to the way Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma have incorporated regional sounds into contemporary popular music. He characterized the current Argentine scene as a significant cultural moment and linked the renewed interest in national musical traditions to a sense of cultural pride.

The former Talking Heads frontman also distinguished that pride from political nationalism. He noted that many of the artists celebrate their Argentine identity while remaining critical of President Javier Milei.
