The first image of Pierfrancesco Favino playing Sergio Marchionne in Marco Bellocchio’s film Falcon has been released. Filming is under way in Italy, including at the historic Mirafiori complex in Turin, where production is taking place in a building currently undergoing renovation, with the collaboration of Stellantis Europe.
Falcon is set in 2004, when Fiat was close to collapse and Marchionne took charge. The film follows his efforts to reshape the company, including his relationship with young heir John Elkann, played by Louis Garrel, and the push into the US market against General Motors and Chrysler.
The production describes the story as combining the tension of a financial thriller with a psychological portrait of a powerful figure whose success came at a heavy personal cost.
The cast also includes Benedetta Cimatti and Barbara Ronchi, with Valeria Bruni Tedeschi appearing in a supporting role. Bellocchio wrote the film with Ludovica Rampoldi, Andrea Di Stefano and Stefano Rulli, with Oliviero Del Papa also contributing. 01 Distribution will release Falcon in Italy, while Rai Cinema International Distribution is handling international sales.
Andrea Castorina is the production designer, Daria Calvelli is the costume designer and Francesca Calvelli is the editor. Matteo Cocco is the cinematographer, marking his first collaboration with Bellocchio.
