Theater director Gerald Thomas said in an Instagram video posted Saturday that he is hospitalized in an intensive care unit in São Luís, in the Brazilian state of Maranhão. He did not say what happened or identify the hospital.
Appearing in a hospital bed with electrodes on his chest, Thomas apologized for being out of touch and said he was being treated well. Before posting the video, he had shared two photos from the same bed and another video apparently recorded while he was waiting to be seen at the hospital.
Thomas’s most recent production in São Paulo was “Choque! Procurando Sinais de Vida Inteligente,” starring Danielle Winits. The play ran at Teatro Faap from January to March this year.
