Gracie Abrams turned her second Saturday Night Live appearance into a two-part tribute to Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet during the show’s Halloween episode on Oct. 31. The singer appeared as both of the film’s central characters across performances of songs from her album Daughter from Hell and its deluxe edition.
For “Hit the Wall,” Abrams wore the angel costume associated with Claire Danes’ Juliet and began the performance behind an aquarium, referencing the film’s fish-tank meeting scene. She later returned to perform “Here You Come, There You Go” in Leonardo DiCaprio’s Hawaiian shirt, combined with the metal sleeves from his character’s knight armor.
The appearance marked Abrams’ second time as SNL’s musical guest, following her December 2024 debut on an episode hosted by Chris Rock. Inde Navarrette hosted the Halloween episode for the first time.
Abrams’ appearance followed the biggest commercial year of her career. Daughter from Hell, released July 17 through Interscope and produced with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 124,000 equivalent album units. It became her first album to top the all-genre chart, surpassing the No. 2 peak reached by her 2024 album The Secret of Us.
“Hit the Wall” served as Daughter from Hell’s lead single. The song reached the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 45 on the Billboard Global 200. Abrams’ highest-charting song remains “That’s So True,” a deluxe-edition track from The Secret of Us that reached No. 6 on the Hot 100 and became her first top 10 hit on the chart.
Abrams is scheduled to take Daughter from Hell on the road in December. Her Look at My Life Tour is set to begin Dec. 2 in Denver and continue through May 2027, including four performances at London’s O2 Arena.
