Justin Timberlake is set to revisit the controversial 2004 Super Bowl halftime show in a four-part docuseries for Apple TV, Variety reports. The series is expected to arrive in December, and sources described it to the publication as a “tell-all.” One source said Janet Jackson will discuss the incident during the performance.

Jackson headlined the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show, where Timberlake joined her onstage. During “Rock Your Body,” he pulled at her costume, exposing her right breast. The incident drew widespread attention and was later referred to as a “wardrobe malfunction.”

Both the network and Timberlake apologized at the time. Jackson faced most of the backlash, including being blacklisted from radio, while Timberlake encountered comparatively little fallout and later performed at the Super Bowl halftime show as a solo artist in 2017.

In 2021, renewed scrutiny of Timberlake’s role in the incident followed the release of the documentary “Framing Britney Spears.” Timberlake then apologized publicly to Jackson and Britney Spears, saying he had failed them and acknowledging that the industry gives men, particularly white men, advantages.

Representatives for Timberlake, Jackson and Apple did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s requests for comment, according to the publication.
