The Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana will headline the new Les Arts cycle in Madrid, presented by the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical. The orchestra, resident ensemble of the Palau de les Arts, is scheduled to perform three concerts under conductors Thomas Hengelbrock, Mikko Franck and Sir Mark Elder. Violinist Christian Tetzlaff and tenor Michael Spyres are also set to take part in the series.

The first concert will take place on Sunday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Auditorio Nacional de Música. Hengelbrock will conduct a programme focused on German Romanticism, with Tetzlaff as soloist in Johannes Brahms’s Violin Concerto.

The programme will also include Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 2, a work shaped by the composer’s own musical voice and the influence of German tradition, particularly Bach and Beethoven.
