A new museum dedicated to artist Mario Sironi is scheduled to open in Rome this spring, in a wing of the Casa Madre dei Mutilati e Invalidi di Guerra on Piazza Adriana. The site, designed by architect Marcello Piacentini, contains two frescoes by Sironi.

The Mario Sironi Museum and Sironi Studies Centre will feature a permanent collection of the artist’s works, including paintings, drawings and sketches, as well as a digital archive for researchers and the public.

Announcing the project, Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli called it “the defining achievement” of his ministerial term and said it was the initiative he was most proud of. He described the museum as a way to return a shared cultural heritage to the public, amid renewed challenges to freedom and the effects of conflict and authoritarianism.
