Composer Michele Tadini has been officially appointed as the new Artistic Director of the Music Sector for the Venice Biennale's 2027-2028 biennium. The decision was made by the Board of Directors under the presidency of Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, who also expressed deep gratitude to outgoing director Caterina Barbieri for her commitment and the excellent results achieved during her tenure.

The next International Festival of Contemporary Music, which will be directed by Tadini, is set to run in Venice from October 2 to October 16, 2027. President Buttafuoco highlighted Tadini's original research, noting its significant contribution to the evolution of electronic music and real-time interaction systems while maintaining a deeply human dimension. He described Tadini's approach as a living, interdisciplinary language that bridges music with theater, visual arts, dance, and new technologies, emphasizing the composer's long-standing connection to the Biennale through his various works, performances, and installations.

In response to the appointment, Tadini expressed profound gratitude and honor. He reflected on his career of work, research, and inquiry into the reasons and necessities of music, stating that he now feels a strong sense of responsibility to give concrete form to these thoughts. Tadini emphasized that his future actions and words must not only reflect what he considers important but must also hold significance for the public and for music itself.
