My Chemical Romance’s 20th-anniversary reissue of The Black Parade has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. According to the chart result, it is the first anniversary reissue by any artist to reach the top spot in the chart’s history.
The album originally debuted at No. 2 following its release in 2006, so the reissue marks the first time The Black Parade has reached No. 1. The release also delivered My Chemical Romance their first chart-topper on the UK albums chart.
The Black Parade is widely regarded as one of the notable rock albums of the 21st century, combining ambitious art-rock elements with emo and pop-punk influences. Its concept is driven by Gerard Way’s comics-inspired storytelling.
The band recently completed its latest Black Parade tour, which concluded with five shows at the Hollywood Bowl. My Chemical Romance is now preparing for the next leg of the tour in East Asia.
Way also announced onstage that the group plans to stay off the road in 2027 while working on a new album.
