My Chemical Romance has reached a significant milestone by securing its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. The band's landmark record, The Black Parade, jumped from position 139 to the top spot on the chart dated November 7, 2026. This achievement follows the release of a 20th-anniversary deluxe reissue of the 2006 album, which originally debuted and peaked at No. 2 upon its initial launch. Until this week, it remained the group's highest-charting album.
The reissue was made available in an array of configurations, including more than 20 physical variants with expanded editions featuring bonus tracks. For chart tracking purposes, all versions were combined. According to data from Luminate, the album earned 78,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending October 29. This represents a 653% increase, driven largely by pure album sales of 68,000 units, which surged by 2,082%. Vinyl purchases accounted for 42,000 of these sales, marking the band's best week ever on vinyl.
This historic climb represents a 20-year wait to reach No. 1, setting a new record for the longest duration for any album to achieve this position. It surpasses the previous record held by Toby Keith's 35 Biggest Hits, which took 15 years and nine months to reach the top following his death in 2024. My Chemical Romance is also the third act in 2026 to wait at least a decade from their Billboard 200 debut to secure a first No. 1. The band waited 22 years and four months from its debut with Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge until this achievement.
The surge coincides with the group's ongoing tour celebrating the album, which began in July 2025 and is scheduled to conclude on November 22 in Indonesia. Recent stops included a five-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in October. The Black Parade houses the band's highest-charting hit on the Billboard Hot 100, "Welcome to the Black Parade," which peaked at No. 9 in January 2007. The track also stands as the band's sole No. 1 on the Alternative Airplay chart.
The album's jump from 139 to 1 is the largest vault to the top spot since Taylor Swift's Fearless (Taylor's Version) soared from 157 to 1 in October 2021. The Black Parade joins other notable reissues of 2026 that have entered the top 10, including The Beatles' Rubber Soul, Mac Miller's The Divine Feminine, and Beyoncé's B'Day. On the latest Billboard 200, Olivia Rodrigo's you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love holds the No. 2 position, followed by Morgan Wallen at No. 3 and Ella Langley at No. 4.
