Paolo Belli has decided to return to his artistic work after taking a break following a bicycle accident in July that claimed the life of a 41-year-old man. The singer and entertainer announced his decision in a video shared on social media on November 3.
Belli said he had chosen to remain silent and suspend his artistic and professional activities out of respect after the incident. He thanked people for their support and said he would return to work with a different state of mind, while not forgetting what had happened.
The collision occurred on July 13 in Cognento, in the countryside between Correggio and Campagnola. The man, who was working for a services company, was returning to his car when Belli’s bicycle struck him. He fell and died the following day at Parma’s Maggiore Hospital, where he had been taken by air ambulance.
Local police in the Bassa Reggiana union are investigating. Belli was entered in the register of people under investigation by the Reggio Emilia prosecutor’s office as a procedural step ahead of inquiries. He had suspended his summer tour and other artistic commitments after the accident, including a video appearance in the new season of Rai1’s “Ballando con le stelle.”
