A commemoration for Pier Paolo Pasolini was held on Monday morning at the poet’s grave in the cemetery of Casarsa della Delizia, in the province of Pordenone, on the anniversary of his death. Pasolini died in Ostia during the night between November 1 and 2, 1975.

The Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Centre will continue the commemorations with four days of meetings in Casarsa and Udine from November 4 to 7. The programme will examine the intellectual’s work through his journalism, friendships and cultural debates of the 20th century.

On November 4 and 5 in Casarsa, Academiuta, an advanced training school led by Roberto Carnero, will bring together 31 young European university students. Their discussions will focus on “Pasolini the polemical journalist,” ranging from his dialogues with readers of Vie Nuove to his Scritti corsari.

An international conference titled “Pasolini and the 20th Century,” curated by Massimo Raffaeli, is scheduled for November 6 at the University of Udine and November 7 in Casarsa. The programme will explore Pasolini’s relationships with Alberto Moravia, Carlo Emilio Gadda and Giorgio Bassani, as well as his connections with the cinema of Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti and Bernardo Bertolucci.
