Sangue Caldo, a series project by Iris Aresu and Mattia Salvetti, has won the fourth edition of La Bottega della Sceneggiatura, a screenwriting development and coaching initiative created by Premio Solinas and Netflix for emerging writers interested in serial storytelling.
The first prize is worth €7,000. The €2,000 second prize was shared by Due culture e mezza, by Nawal Chouaf and Imane Kamil, and Uforia, by Edoardo Melchioretto and Giorgia Conigliaro. At Netflix’s discretion, the winning project teams may also be offered work as assistants in a writers’ room for a series project involving the streaming company.
The jury praised Sangue Caldo for its distinctive, contemporary voice and its portrayal of adolescence without idealising or judging it. Its assessment also highlighted the project’s visual identity and its mix of irony, rawness and tenderness in depicting life in an Italian provincial setting beyond familiar stereotypes.
Due culture e mezza is set in Barriera di Milano, a working-class, multicultural neighbourhood. Uforia centres on an intimate, offbeat fictional world where humour meets melancholy and an encounter with UFOs brings together fragile, unconventional antiheroes.
La Bottega della Sceneggiatura aims to help develop new voices and perspectives in Italian series writing, with particular attention to people from underrepresented groups. Participants refine their storytelling skills through a multi-stage programme, developing writing projects under the guidance of mentors and jurors.
