Taylor Swift has contributed original songs to a range of films, both as a performer in some of them and as a songwriter for projects she did not appear in. Her movie-related catalogue includes tracks for Hannah Montana: The Movie, Valentine’s Day, Cats, The Hunger Games and Where the Crawdads Sing, among others.
The ranked selection includes songs written specifically for the screen, such as “Beautiful Ghosts” from Cats and “Safe & Sound” from The Hunger Games, as well as tracks Swift had already written and later offered for a soundtrack. She told The Tennessean in 2010 that “Today Was a Fairytale” was written the previous summer before she considered it a fit for Valentine’s Day.
“Today Was a Fairytale” and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” Swift’s collaboration with ZAYN for Fifty Shades Darker, both peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The list also features “I Knew It, I Knew You,” written for Toy Story 5, which reached No. 1 for two weeks in 2026.
Among the other entries are “Crazier,” which Swift performs in Hannah Montana: The Movie, and “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home,” sung by Miley Cyrus in the same film. The Hunger Games contributed two songs to the ranking: “Eyes Open” and “Safe & Sound,” the latter featuring The Civil Wars and winning a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Swift’s other soundtrack contributions include the electro-pop song “Sweeter Than Fiction” for One Chance, “Carolina” for Where the Crawdads Sing, “Only the Young” from her documentary Miss Americana, and “Beautiful Ghosts,” co-written with Andrew Lloyd Webber for Cats. “Beautiful Ghosts” received nominations for a Golden Globe and a Grammy.
