Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have officially composed the score for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, a David Fincher-directed spin-off written by Quentin Tarantino. The confirmation follows rumors that surfaced last month.
The project continues Reznor and Ross’s work with Fincher: they have scored six of his films, including The Social Network, Gone Girl and Mank. The Social Network won the Academy Award for Best Original Score in 2011. The pair have also scored the last four films directed by Luca Guadagnino, including Challengers and After the Hunt.
The film is a quasi-sequel to Tarantino’s 2019 movie Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood. Brad Pitt returns as stuntman-turned-fixer Cliff Booth, with the story set in 1977, eight years after the events of the original film. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Timothy Olyphant and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also appear.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is scheduled to open in theaters on Nov. 25, followed by its Netflix release on Dec. 23. Tarantino’s novelization of the film is due on Dec. 8, following his 2021 book Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: A Novel.
