Wu-Tang Clan is set to headline the halftime performance at the Detroit Lions' Thanksgiving Day game, which will feature a matchup against the Chicago Bears. The event marks another collaboration between the group's executive producers, Eminem and his longtime manager Paul Rosenberg, who are overseeing talent selection for the annual showcase.
Rosenberg noted in a statement that the production team aims to deliver performances that are both exciting and unexpected, describing the Wu-Tang Clan appearance as fitting that description perfectly. He highlighted that both he and Eminem have been fans of the group since the early 1990s, alongside a generation of Detroit football supporters, expressing honor at bringing them to this year's stage.
This performance follows closely on the heels of Wu-Tang Clan's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which is scheduled for November 14th. The Lions' Thanksgiving Day game will air nationally on CBS starting at 1:00 p.m. ET on November 26th.
In other NFL Thanksgiving Day programming, Miranda Lambert will headline the halftime show for the Philadelphia Eagles versus Dallas Cowboys game, while the Goo Goo Dolls are scheduled to perform during the Kansas City Chiefs versus Buffalo Bills matchup. Additionally, U2 will headline the halftime show for the league's first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game between the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Rams.
