Yung Miami has opened up about the emotional impact of her breakthrough single "Spend Dat," revealing that its massive success generated anxiety ahead of her debut solo album, Watch Dis. The track became her first top 20 smash on the Billboard Hot 100 this summer, creating a momentum she carried into the October 23 release of her full-length project, which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 138.
In a recent interview with Billboard News, Miami discussed the dual nature of having a hit song, describing it as both a gift and a curse. She admitted that witnessing the scale of "Spend Dat"'s performance made her realize the magnitude of the moment, prompting her to step back and refine her work. "Just seeing the success of 'Spend Dat,' it gave me anxiety; I'm not gonna lie," she stated. "I was excited, but I was like, 'Damn, this is big.' I want this album to just be great... It really made me go back and hone in."
This realization led Miami to re-evaluate her initial tracklist. Before the success of "Spend Dat," she had recorded a few songs but decided they were not sufficient once she understood what listeners wanted. She noted that after the single's rise, she returned to the studio to record additional tracks, including "2008," "F You," and a collaboration with Bryson Tiller, ensuring the album was strong from start to finish.
The 32-year-old rapper did not shy away from securing high-profile collaborations for Watch Dis, featuring artists such as G Herbo, Travis Scott, Quavo, Rick Ross, Summer Walker, and Bryson Tiller. Among these partnerships, Miami highlighted her work with Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller as standout moments. She expressed deep admiration for Walker, calling her the number one R&B artist and praising every album she has released. Similarly, Miami praised Tiller's unique voice and his ability to communicate with women, noting she has always been a fan of his music.
When asked about a potential reunion with City Girls partner JT, Miami offered a brief response, stating simply, "Inshallah."
