Alfredo Olivas marked Día de Muertos with the first edition of Festival Ánimas Que Sí Amanezca, held at the Explanada del Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico. The event combined music and tributes to loved ones who have passed away, reflecting a holiday centered on remembrance, family and celebration.

The festival grounds included candlelit altars, large Catrina figures and phone stations designed to let attendees symbolically call departed relatives. The celebration began on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 1, and continued into the early hours of Monday, Nov. 2.

The lineup featured a broad selection of regional Mexican styles. Los Ángeles Azules brought cumbia, Moy Bobadilla performed norteño, Mi Banda El Mexicano represented technobanda, and Olivas, Edén Muñoz and Julión Álvarez delivered banda sinaloense and norteño banda performances.

Moy Bobadilla, wearing calavera makeup, energized the audience by singing among the crowd. During his set, he also announced that he will soon release a collaboration with Marco Antonio Solís, following the viral response to his version of “Cómo Me Haces Falta.”

Los Ángeles Azules kept fans dancing with songs including “Nunca Es Suficiente,” “Cómo Te Voy a Olvidar,” “Entrega de Amor” and “El Listón De Tu Pelo.” The group described its performance as a joyful tribute to the souls honored during the holiday.

Duelo also delivered one of the festival’s notable moments. While performing “Malabares,” the group was joined by Olivas, followed by Louie Padilla of La Firma. Together, they performed “La Llamada” and “Soy Como No Soy.”

As the festival’s host, Olivas took the stage after several hours of music. At midnight, he rose onto the stage in an elevator to perform “Tiene Memoria la Piel” and asked the audience to turn on their phone lights. The sea of illuminated screens became a tribute to those remembered on Día de Muertos.

Julión Álvarez later joined Olivas for “Regalo de Dios” and several additional songs before the two performed “Pongámonos de acuerdo.” Edén Muñoz, who joined the lineup shortly before the event after accepting Olivas’ invitation on social media, completed the festival’s closing stretch.

The three artists performed songs including “En Definitiva,” “Mi Mayor Anhelo” and “La Nena,” ending the night with a mix of heartbreak, romance and norteño cumbia as the crowd sang and danced.
