C. Tangana has returned to rap with “Milko Freestyle,” a track looking back on the death of his friend and collaborator Milkman, the birth of his son and the career turns that followed his 2021 album El Madrileño.

Produced by hip-hop duo KevD and Jambo, the song revisits the sound associated with Tangana’s early work. In its lyrics, he recalls traveling to Mexico as Milkman was dying, then reflects on the responsibilities of becoming a father.

Tangana also considers the response to El Madrileño, which moved away from his rap beginnings toward traditional Spanish and Latin American sounds. He addresses criticism from fellow rappers, financial losses connected to his touring ambitions and his complicated relationship with the music industry.

The release arrives ahead of Tangana’s reunion with Agorazein, the Madrid rap collective that helped launch his career. The group, which includes Sticky M.A., Jerv.AGZ, I-Ace and Fabianni, is set to perform four concerts at Madrid’s Movistar Arena from November 15 to 18, marking the 10th anniversary of its 2016 album Siempre.
