Nicki Minaj marked Election Day with an AI-generated image of Chucky wearing a pink suit and a “Vote RED” badge. The rapper’s post drew a response from Don Mancini, creator of the horror franchise, who argued that the character would not support the Republican message.

“IMPOSTER. CHUCKY IS PART OF THE BLUE WAVE THAT WILL WASH AWAY ALL THE CORRUPTION,” Mancini wrote in a reply. In a separate post, he pointed to the character’s family and views, writing that “Chucky has a trans kid,” protects dolls and is “anti-ICE.” He also shared a photo of a Chucky doll with blue hair and added, “Too bad, Nicki! No AI, by the way!”

Chucky’s child has been part of the franchise’s story for years. Glen/Glenda is central to the 2004 film Seed of Chucky. In the television series, Chucky tells teenage character Jake that he has a queer child, later specifying that the child is genderfluid.

Minaj has previously used images of Chucky in political posts. In January, she shared an image of the doll while criticizing journalist Don Lemon over his coverage of an anti-ICE protest at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota. She used a homophobic slur against Lemon and called for his arrest, then later posted another Chucky image showing the doll raising a middle finger.
