“Global Antiquity: Cultural Interactions in Afroeurasian Space 600 BCE–1000 CE” opens to the public at Fondazione Prada in Milan. The exhibition explores how artistic, cultural, commercial and political relationships linked peoples and cultures from the Mediterranean to Asia over more than 1,600 years. It will run through March 1, 2027.
The research project is curated by Salvatore Settis, Anna Anguissola and Chiara Ballestrazzi, with an exhibition design by Rem Koolhaas and AMO/OMA. It continues a broader investigation by Fondazione Prada into ancient art, which began in 2015 with “Serial Classic” and “Portable Classic” in Milan and Venice, and continued in Milan in 2022 with “Recycling Beauty.”
Settis has described the project’s premise as viewing ancient art not only as a legacy of the past, but also as a way to access the diversity of cultures in the contemporary world.
