Renee Spearman, Montell Jordan and Kim Burrell have reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel AirPlay chart with “You Chose Me.” The song climbed three places on the chart dated Nov. 7, giving Spearman her second leader, Jordan his first and Burrell her third.

Jordan became widely known through his 1995 hit “This Is How We Do It,” which spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. After building a run of further Top 40 hits, he turned his focus from secular music to ministry in 2010, becoming a worship leader at Victory World Church in Norcross, Georgia, and later recording faith-based music.

Spearman and Jordan co-wrote “You Chose Me,” which reflects on their faith and its influence on their music careers. Jason White, known for his work with Ye’s Sunday Service Choir, and Asaph Ward co-produced the track.

Spearman brought Jordan and Burrell onto the collaboration, reuniting with Burrell after their 2023–24 Gospel Airplay No. 1, “Tap Into It (The Source).” Spearman’s earlier chart successes include “I Got God,” which peaked at No. 7 in 2022, and “I Love Him,” featuring Hezekiah Walker and Dr. Holly Carter, which reached No. 6 in 2020.
