The Chicks postponed their Los Angeles concert at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Monday, Nov. 2, citing illness. The announcement came hours before the venue was due to open its doors for the performance.
The show has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4. In a statement, the group said previously purchased tickets would remain valid for the new date and that fans unable to attend could request refunds from their point of purchase.
Some fans expressed disappointment in the comments, including people who had traveled from out of state and could not make the rescheduled date. One fan said they and their friends had planned the trip months in advance and traveled more than four hours. Another wrote that they had flown in from Canada with family but would be returning home before Wednesday.
The Chicks are nearing the end of their Taking the Long Way 20th anniversary tour, celebrating the album released after the group faced backlash over Natalie Maines’ criticism of President George W. Bush and the Iraq War in 2003. The controversy features prominently on the album, which includes the single “Not Ready to Make Nice.” The group later won five Grammy Awards for the record, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
