Bruce Springsteen urged election officials and government representatives to ensure ballots are securely counted in a video message shared on social media Tuesday, Nov. 3, Election Day for the 2026 midterms.

“I’m speaking to election officials and representatives of our government on Election Day,” Springsteen said. He reminded them of their oath to uphold the Constitution and described protecting the vote as a solemn duty.

Springsteen also invoked Thomas Jefferson’s words on government requiring the consent of the governed, calling on officials not to follow directives that could undermine the constitutional right to a free and fair election. “Our vote is our voice,” he said, adding that officials must help ensure that voice is heard.

In the post accompanying the 45-second video, Springsteen thanked people voting and encouraged his followers to support democracy by taking the Oath to the Constitution at oathproject.org.

The 2026 midterms include congressional races that will determine control of the House and Senate, as well as gubernatorial, state legislative and local contests. Springsteen also endorsed Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan’s Senate race on Monday, describing him as a defender of the Constitution and American democracy.
