Press agent Saverio Ferragina has remembered filmmaker Tinto Brass as “free, witty, cultured and daring,” describing their collaboration as both a professional and personal experience he will always carry with him. Ferragina worked with Brass on media strategies accompanying the release of his later films.
Ferragina said that working alongside Brass meant listening to his stories about cinema and his many set anecdotes, often shared with a cigar in hand. He recalled a style of filmmaking that, in his view, belonged to a cinema that no longer exists.
In 1995, Ferragina and Brass planned the film’s arrival at the Venice Film Festival, including the appearance of 15 nude performers. Ferragina said the event led to a public-indecency trial for “Fermo posta Tinto Brass” and generated extensive press coverage.
Together, Ferragina said, they turned Brass’s ability to provoke into a communications strategy designed to make people smile, debate and reflect. He described it as a great honor to have shared part of the journey with the filmmaker.
